Wondering about the 50″ Vizio Plasma

I was in the local Sam’s Club yesterday and spotted the Vizio 50″ plasma for $2289. I thought that it looked great; they had it hooked up to a Sony upconvert DVD player through HDMI. The DVD playing was Fantastic 4. I’m trying to stick around the $2000-$2500 range. I was wondering, should I consider this plasma? Another thing, I’m going to use the display with my Xbox 360. I’ve heard that it’s ok, and then I’ve heard that you shouldn’t use a plasma for gaming. Can you or not? Any input would be appreciated.

  1. If you are talking about the P50HDM, then it sounds like a great buy. Anything less than the better resolution 50″ sets is mistake tho with changing technology.
The x-box will work fine. People caution you due to the image shadow burn-in assciated with plasmas. Any non-changing part of the game image such as score or timer can leave a shadow that you will see in the dark parts of other program viewing. You can even see the black bars at the top of a screen after as little as 8 hours of constant use in some sets. For $2300, do it anyway since most 50″ with that quality are much more anyway. Enjoy
